We'll ask lots of questions about your product in order to determine how much background work and coding will be required to automate your design.

The cost of building a design automation program depends on your product - the complexity of the design, the number of pages in the drawing package, the number of parts in the top-level assembly, how many of those parts change with each configuration, the number of rules and calculations that drive the configurations, etc. It also depends on which type of drafting software you use; Solidworks is easiest for us to work with, but we can start with almost any type of file - including old-fashioned paper drawings! We will go through a thorough checklist together, in order to ensure that we have captured your design intent completely. This step is basically a design audit; we need to verify that we have captured all of the criteria and constraints that drive the different configurations of your product.

We also need to determine what the deliverables will be each time you run the design automation program - as in, what will your drawing package look like? Are there different title blocks you'd like to choose from? Do you also require a bill of materials? Assembly instructions or notes? What file format(s) do you need (3D, 2D, pdf, etc)?
